PERSONAL: My wonderful wife of34 years, Kathy. and I are natives of Hamblen County. We are the proud parents of Brad and wife Dr Whitney (Locke) Jarnagin and Jason and wife Megan (Brooks) Jarnagin and son, Hank. I am the son of Novella (Jarnagin) Haager and Buck Haager. We are long time active members of Rocky Point Baptist Church. My primary personal traits are professionalism, accountability, and integrity. Being Sheriff of Hamblen County is a very important and powerful position and I will continue to lead by setting positive examples and defending the constitutional rights of all citizens. We are raising two loving homeless dogs Buffy Lou and Julie Ann.

EDUCATION: Gradated from WSCC in 1972 with High Honors and Associate Degree In Criminal Justice. Graduated from ETSU in 1977 with High Honors and Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Minor in Psychology. In 1988 graduated from The FBI National Police Academy in Quantico, VA. with High Honors, completing an Intense course of study in Law Enforcement Leadership and Management.

EXPERIENCE: Retired from the Morristown Police with 31 years of service. I have
investigated over 6,000 cases with 100% arrest and conviction for 14 murders. Arrested
over a thousand criminals and testified in a court of law hundreds of hours seeing that
justice was served. I have been honored being your Sheriff since September 2006.

MILITARY: Volunteered for military du~ in June of 1966 during the Vietnam War. I
served an over seas tour of duty on the 38t Parallel (DMZ) in Korea. I received an
Honorable Discharge in June of 1969 after receiving several commendations and medals.

POINTS OF INTEREST: Having put two children through college on a policeman's
salary, I know the value of a dollar. Changes I made at the Sheriff's office saves
taxpayers thousands of dollars yearly. My education, experience, and common sense
help in making every day decisions. When possible, I have returned all of my phone calls
if a return number was given. I have an open door policy but when you come to see me
and I am not available, then I am talking with someone, patrolling the roads of Hamblen
County, or dealing with jail or work related issues. I am a working Sheriff, I carry a gun
and a badge and go on calls with my officers. When you are responsible for a
$5,000,000.00 budget and over 300 inmates in an over crowded jail, time will not permit
you to set hour after hour in a safe and comfortable office.
